First Degree Reiki

First Degree Reiki is a practical art that offers tools to help make life easier and more joyful.  This class rekindles the wisdom that is already in each one of us; students receive instruction on the history of Reiki in customary oral tradition, a discussion of the philosophy and principles of Reiki, the sequence of hand positions in a complete self –treatment and treatments on other people.  Lots of attention to guided practice in giving and receiving complete one-hour treatments.  Students also participate in a series of four initiation ceremonies during the class which allow Reiki energy to move more fluently through the hands. (Students with previous First Degree training may audit the course with instructor approval for a cost of $90.)

February 9 and 10, 2019
Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  (Lunch served this day)
and Sunday 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Salem — 10 CEUs available

Check back for future dates by the end of January

Second Degree Reiki

After a First Degree practitioner has given treatments to themselves and others and experienced Reiki in their lives, a desire may develop to learn more and go further with the practice.  Second Degree training involves deepening the practice of this gentle, effective hands-on healing art, offering additional tools for those who are drawn to an expanded experience.  Students learn to send Reiki at a distance, assess energy during the process of a treatment, and explore the practice more deeply.  One initiation ceremony is offered in Second Degree.  (Students with previous Second Degree training may audit the course with instructor approval for a cost of $175.)

The Nature of Reiki; Exploring our Subtle Energy and Relationship to “All that Is”

Lineage Bearer Phyllis Furumoto often speaks about the ‘absolute’ and ‘relative’ worlds that exist in our experience of life.  I’d like to offer a few words about these concepts:

The relative world is that which we experience every day after waking, and before we fall into sleep. In this world, humans in every culture have created a way of relating to each other through the use of agreed-upon norms and values that allow us to get along in relative harmony. This world is the binary system of ‘if this then that’, where everything is ‘relative’ to something else.

The absolute world is that of non-ordinary or non-consensus reality. In this world there is nothing to judge or compare anything else to – experiences are ‘just so’.  Every experience is full of its own potential – or potentials – to grow and mature into exactly what it is called to be by its own true nature.  You might say that individual potentials navigate and follow their own ‘North Star’.  And when one North Star is aligned or partnered or shared with another North Star… well, the possibilities are endless.

Your initiation in first or second degree Reiki may have awakened or reactivated a connection to this absolute world for you; as a Reiki practitioner, perhaps you have begun to feel that the absolute world has opened its doors a bit further to you, offering an invitation to come, visit, share and learn. Personal experiences of this nature might look like or include ‘knowing’ something before it happens; a heightened sensory awareness either through scent, sight, or touch; a new ability to differentiate between density or heat or vibrational frequency when treating another person; a more regular frequency of ‘coincidental’ happenings, and/or other possibly unusual experiences.

In these upcoming weekends together we will explore these two worlds, the places where we stand poised and balanced ‘on the bridge’ with a foot in each, and the places where we may not feel so balanced.  We will engage, identify and experience subtle energy clues and invitations, respond to invitations with the honor of attention and the respect of one consciousness to another; we will share Reiki, laughter, stories, food and possibilities.

Our world is made up of our ‘relatives’; our family lines intersect across lands and oceans.  One of the basic premises of HFT is that when we heal our family lines we live better lives.  This isn’t just for ‘us’ individually; it is also important in the world today.  Our personal work may be a simple drop in the ocean of need, but when enough of us have placed our ‘drop’ in the ocean, changes happen.  We see this not only in our families but also in interactions between people and countries. As always with Reiki we begin with ourselves, then with our families and then our communities; as we practice in this way we address the world as well..

This is a Reiki seminar working with our family relationships, along with looking at the unfinished business we have and carry from our ancestors: what we don’t reconcile gets passed on to future generations whether we like the idea or not.  Even small things that pass down to us can enhance or destroy our relationships, or change the pace of our progress through life.  Family patterns of every type affect our daily lives. The permanent changes experienced through HFT will affect our next 7 generations. (It is good to remember we also have 7 generations behind us).  Of course, everything we do for ourselves has an effect on the rest of the family.  Many unexpected healings occur in these classes.

HFT does not bypass our lifetime issues; our life’s work is our life’s work.  Instead, HFT clears the air of things that did not directly come from us but still can be worked on by us. Through the process of HFT we have, or will have, the knowledge of how to do that, pragmatically using our Reiki daily tools for this very deep work.

Facilitator Marta Getty is an archaeologist of family treasures. From the 1970s when she met Bethel Phaigh (one of Mrs. Takata’s 22 Masters) and from 1980 when she personally met Hawayo Takata, a seed within began to grow deep roots, touching Marta’s love of exploration, her passion for Reiki and a desire for self-healing.  These encounters eventually led to treasure hunting within her own family tree. Through these excavations she discovered a Reiki way to work toward family wholeness. The first time this was shared publicly was in 2001, in helping others to discover their own rich family treasures.
